A rare and exciting opportunity exists to join one of Australia’s most well respected and fastest growing international development organisations – The Fred Hollows Foundation. We have an ambitious 5 year strategic plan that aims to take The Foundation even closer to realising our vision of ending avoidable blindness.
At an organisational level, The Economist is The Foundation’s key technical adviser in the areas of health economics, health system financing and economic policy. Working across The foundation this positions delivers and commissions globally significant economic and policy research, which enable us to broaden and deepen our impact. At an operational level this position, will help to build local capacity, working closely with our country teams to understand and build economic analysis into country programs, enabling us to understand our economic impact at a local level.
In this position you will research, analyse and advise on complex health financing matters to enable The Foundation to identify opportunities to explore and trial innovative health financing models as well as to influence future health financing policy decisions which impact eye health and assist in eliminating avoidable blindness. Your skills and knowledge will also help shape global advocacy initiatives aimed at increasing awareness and engagement, whilst providing critical thought leadership around significant global economics and health financing issues.
To be successful in this role, you will have strong experience in providing strategic and technical advice and analysis to senior leaders, within the context of economics. You will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and ideally have superior knowledge of health systems financing. Excellent research and communication skills, an acute eye for detail, together with a positive disposition will all be essential to enable you to help influence change at a senior level across The Foundation and across a wide network of partners and professionals.
International and domestic travel will be required.
