An Evening with an Eminent Economist: Emeritus Professor Ian Harper, AO

Join us for an evening with Professor Ian Harper as he talks over his career as one of Australia's most renowned public policy economists and the recently retired Dean of Melbourne Business School after a successful five-year term.

In his previous assignments on public policy Ian Harper conducted reviews into competition policy otherwise known as the Harper review. Ian served on the Wallis enquiry into the Australian financial system and was also the first Chairman of the Fair Pay Commission.

Ian is currently on the Reserve Bank of Australia Board having been on it since July 2016. He has also been a long serving member and office bearer of the Economic Society of Australia. He authored the book Economics for Life which is sadly out of print. That book laid out Ian approach to methodology and conduct of being a publicly spirited economist.

Time: 6pm and runs until approximately 7pm. Attendees welcome to arrive from 5:30pm to enjoy drinks downstairs (at own cost)
