Hosted by Monash Business School’s Department of Accounting, Monforma is a biennial conference that facilitates the free exchange of ideas among academics and promotes and initiates research opportunities in management accounting.

This signature event attracts management accounting academics from all major Australian universities, and from overseas.

Monforma’s focused technical program allows participants to present and receive feedback on their work in a constructive environment. Participants will benefit from diverse presentations which span multiple research paradigms and methods, as well as outstanding networking opportunities.

Paper submissions

Submission of full papers is highly encouraged. Papers can be submitted until 17 July via the event website.

PhD/ECR Colloquium

Monforma will provide the opportunity for PhD students and Early Career Researchers (ECR’s) to present their early stage research at the PhD/ECR Colloquium, to be held on 25 November prior to the main conference, and receive feedback from faculty. Full papers are not required.

This session concludes with an expert panel followed by networking. Everyone is welcome to attend the colloquium, and there will be no charge to participate in this part of the conference.

Keynote speakers

Professor Claire Dambrin, ESCP Business School, Paris

Prof Dambrin is a Professor of Management Control. Her qualitative and critical research, grounded in the social studies of accounting, examines the design, uses, and effects of performance measurement tools, including accounting information systems, individual evaluation, and incentive schemes.

She also explores how these tools are gendered, highlighting their subjugating and emancipating potential through feminist perspectives. Her work is published in leading international journals.

Prof Dambrin earned her PhD from Paris Dauphine University and was previously a professor at HEC Paris. Claire serves on the editorial boards of AOS, MAR and CPA, and is co-editor-in-chief of CCA/AAC.

Professor David Bedford, UTS Business School

Prof Bedford is an accounting professor, and internationally recognised as a leading researcher in the field of management accounting and control.

His recent research focused on performance measurement system design for innovation and sustainability. Prof Bedford has published in leading academic journals, is Associate Editor for the British Accounting Review and the Journal of Management Control, and an editorial board member of several journals including Accounting, Organizations and Society.

Prof Bedford is actively engaged with practice and executive education, with experience across a range of government, industry, professional, and social enterprises.
