Quandaries of the Tax System

In this incisive and data-driven presentation, Evan unpacks the structural fault lines running through Australia's tax architecture: an over-reliance on personal income tax, a poorly diversified tax mix, and a system that quietly rewards wealth accumulation while placing the heaviest burden on those least able to carry it.

Drawing on behavioural economics, demographic data and generational analysis, Evan explores how tax policy doesn't just raise revenue it shapes behaviour, transfers wealth, and either widens or narrows the gap between aspiration and fairness. From the distorting effects of a single-move tax system, to the growing tension between progressive ideals and regressive outcomes, to the intergenerational wealth dynamics that no political party wants to name out loud this presentation challenges audiences to think beyond the budget headlines and confront the system as it actually works.
