Monash University Short Course - Economics of Disability

Date

From: Monday November 11, 2024, 9:45 am

To: Monday November 11, 2024, 4:30 pm

This one-day short course will provide an overview of key issues in the disability sector and the NDIS from an economics perspective. It will deploy economic theory and provide a framework to consider the value of different policy options and what services and supports should be funded and for whom. This will consider evidence on the costs, effectiveness, and equity implications of different policy options at the intersection of the disability, health and aged care sectors, and the sustainability of disability support schemes such as the NDIS.

Topics covered will also include the role of the disability sector in health care systems, how financing and payment reform can influence the cost and effectiveness of disability support schemes such as the NDIS, and economics of the disability workforce.

At the end of the day, participants will be:

  • Conversant in key economic concepts relevant to disability policy including disability care and the disability workforce.
