Economics Student Video Competition - ONLINE ONLY

The Victorian Branch of the Economics Society is excited to launch its first student video competition.  Cash prizes as well as memberships are available.  Entry forms and T&Cs can be found here: Secondary School Students or University Students.  Note, that entrants must be at least 16 years of age and be enrolled and attend a Victorian Secondary School or University.


Video Specifics:

Students are to create a video of up to 5 minutes (300 seconds) on one of the following topics (Note, videos must clearly identify which topic they are focusing on):

  • Economic Growth & Long-Term Economic Prosperity
  • Economics of Environmental Sustainability
  • Economic Efficiency & Equality
  • Housing Affordability, economic complexity and challenges
  • Economics of Happiness.

Videos can be submitted by an individual or as a group. Up to four people can be included in the group.  
Group video entries can include people from different universities or schools. Each entrant can only win one prize.

There are two divisions:

  1. University Student Individual or Group Entry
  2. Secondary Students Individual or Group Entry

Videos will be judged within the following broad areas:

  • 20% - Accuracy of Economic Content
  • 20% - Creativity
  • 30% - Narrative
  • 30% - Overall

Note individual feedback will not provided to entrants.

Submissions must be uploaded in the following video format:

  • YouTube for University entries, the following hashtag must be used:  #esavic24  
  • YouTube Channel (set to Private) for School entries.
