Good Move: Fixing Transport Congestion
Infrastructure Victoria’s Good Move: Fixing Transport Congestion policy paper proposes there needs to be a change in the way people use the transport system if we want to reduce congestion and get the most out of big infrastructure projects. Infrastructure Victoria has long argued for a change in transport pricing to motivate and encourage people to adjust the way they travel. This was one of the top recommendations in Victoria’s 30-year Infrastructure Strategy in 2016 and has been a key focus in Infrastructure Victoria’s research program over the past four years.
The presentation will discuss how Infrastructure Victoria approached the research, drawing upon a range of inputs including enhanced transport modelling, international case studies, community consultation and structured workshops with former decision‑makers. It will also provide a range of options for government to test, validate and refine new ways to pay for transport.
