Transparency and credibility of economic research
Economics is facing a credibility crisis. This crisis is visible in economic policies that routinely disappoint. In this seminar, Professor Chris Doucouliagos will discuss the nature of this crisis and provide an overview of recent global efforts to improve the credibility of economic research.
About the speaker
Professor Chris Doucouliagos received his PhD from Monash University in 1996, under the co-supervision of Ian Ward and Julian Teicher. Before entering academia, he worked as a research economist for the ANZ Banking Group. In the past three years, he has served on the Board of Directors of the European Public Choice Society.
Professor Doucouliagos's areas of research span primary data analysis and meta-regression. He is particularly interested in the credibility of empirical research (economics, psychology, and medicine). Currently, he is working on labour market and economic development issues, largely within a political economy/public choice framework.
