Uncertainty: Macroeconomic Effects and Policy Implications
Uncertainty is a drag on the real economy. But where does uncertainty originate? How does it influence the economic system? What can macro policies do about it? The talk will document the main facts about uncertainty at a macroeconomic level, document the real effects of uncertainty shocks, offer an overview of the main channels via which uncertainty shocks are transmitted to the economy, and cover the role that macroeconomic policies can play in tackling the effects of such shocks. Estimates of the real cost associated to the "Brexit" shock will be proposed
