Our next Policy in the Pub event will be held on Wednesday 16th September 2015 at 5.30 PM at Kelvin Club, 14-30 Melbourne Place (off Russell Street)
John Freebairn will speak on Tax Reform: Rationale and Some Options.
Tax reform can be sought to change revenue, reduce distortions and increase productivity, change distribution and for simplicity. John will consider some reform packages which aim to increase efficiency and reduce complexity while being approximately neutral on revenue and redistribution. John will consider a range of reform packages.
John Freebairn is one of Australia's leading economists. He holds the Richie Chair of economics at the University at the University of Melbourne. He is an applied micro economist and policy analyst, with current research interests in taxation reform and environmental economics.
John is also a Distinguished Fellow of the Society.Please note that our venue is the Kelvin Club, 14-30 Melbourne Place (off Russell Street).
