One of Australia's most distinguished economists, Professor Peter Dixon AO will speak on "Reflections on the CGE modelling adventure".
THE SPEAKER - Professor Peter Dixon AO
Under Professor Dixon's leadership Australia developed one of the world's leading centres for policy modelling. The class of computable general equilibrium models pioneered in Australia is now used worldwide to evaluate policy proposals and has featured in many of Australia's policy debates.
Peter Dixon was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in 1982. In 2003, he was awarded the Distinguished Fellowship of the Economic Society of Australia and in 2006 he was appointed Sir John Monash Distinguished Professor at Monash. In 2013, Elsevier published its two-volume Handbook of Computable General Equilibrium Modeling edited by Dixon and Dale Jorgenson.
In 2014 Peter took up his present position as Professor in the Centre of Policy Studies at Victoria University.
