Taxi Deregulation: Victoria’s Commercial Passenger Vehicle Reforms This month’s talk is from Megan Bourke-O’Neil and Paul Salter who will discuss Victoria’s Commercial Passenger Vehicle Reforms.

 

Synopsis  The entry of ride-sharing and other on-demand and accessible transport models into the Victorian market has driven disruption in the commercial passenger transport sector, and presented a significant challenge for regulators.

 

This talk will cover Victoria’s recent Commercial Passenger Vehicle Reforms and provide insights into re-focusing regulation to a changing services landscape.  

 

About the speakers

Megan Bourke-O’Neil is the founder and director of Illumify Pty Ltd. She is a policy and strategy leader with over 20 years’ experience working with and for Victorian public, corporate and not-for-profit sectors. Megan’s career has encompassed the social policy, infrastructure and transport portfolios. She has led customer and competition-based reforms, policy initiatives, legislation and commercial transactions with major citizen centric and workforce impacts. Megan has held senior roles in the Victorian social policy and economic portfolios, most recently as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources / Deputy Head, Transport for Victoria.

Paul Salter is Director of Policy and Regulation and is the lead economic policy and legislation adviser on the Commercial Passenger Vehicle reforms. Paul is a highly experienced regulatory economist who has led major national and State-based reforms and currently leads regulatory policy across all forms and modes of transport in Transport for Victoria.
